Sedation dentistry helps patients feel calm and comfortable during dental procedures by using medications that reduce anxiety and promote deep relaxation. One advanced option we provide, IV sedation, delivers sedative medicines directly into the bloodstream for fast, precise, and highly controlled results.
With IV sedation, patients remain conscious but deeply relaxed, often remembering little of the procedure. This method allows the dental team to adjust the sedation level as needed, ensuring a safe, smooth experience—especially for those with dental anxiety, extensive treatment needs, or a sensitive gag reflex.
We offer IV sedation in all of our Ohio locations—Blue Ash, Batavia, and Lebanon. Call our dedicated IV Sedation Hotline to speak with a team member and schedule a consultation.

Say Goodbye to Dental Anxiety
At Moorehead Dentistry, we are passionate about helping our patients restore their smiles. By using carefully controlled sedation methods, we can ease fear, reduce discomfort, and make even complex procedures feel more manageable. This approach not only encourages patients to maintain regular dental visits but also helps prevent delays in necessary treatment due to stress or apprehension.

How Much Does IV Sedation Cost?
Our IV sedation costs $199/15 minutes. Most procedures that use IV sedation can be completed within one hour. The total cost will depend on what procedure is being completed. We will provide you with an exact price after a consultation.

Is IV Sedation Safe?
IV sedation is considered a safe and effective option for patients who experience anxiety or require extensive dental treatment. Our trained clinical team carefully evaluates your health history to determine if IV sedation is appropriate for you. Throughout the procedure, your vital signs are continuously monitored with advanced equipment to ensure your safety and comfort. While you remain deeply relaxed, you are still responsive, allowing treatment to proceed smoothly. Most patients recover quickly with minimal side effects, making IV sedation a trusted choice for enhanced dental care.
IV Sedation Dentistry: What to Expect
IV sedation provides a safe and controlled method for helping patients relax during dental procedures.
- Before treatment begins, our trained team reviews your medical history and monitors your vital signs to ensure you are an ideal candidate for the procedure.
- A small IV line is placed to deliver medication that induces a deep state of calm while allowing you to remain responsive.
- Throughout the procedure, we continuously track your comfort and safety.
- Most patients remember little of the appointment and experience a smoother, more stress-free dental visit.
If you’re preparing for a procedure with IV sedation, please ensure you follow our instructions:
- Six-Hour Fast: Please refrain from eating or drinking anything for six hours prior to your appointment. The only exception to this is if you are diabetic—your doctor will give you specific instructions on eating/drinking limitations.
- Dress Comfortably. No tight clothes or long-sleeved tops, as access to the arm is needed for the blood pressure cuff.
- Have a Designated Driver. Someone will need to drive you to your appointment and drive you home. This person must remain in the office or vehicle during the procedure, and we kindly request that they refrain from running any errands during this time. This person is your responsible party. If you are under the age of 19, this must be your parent or guardian.
- Designate a Caretaker. We ask that someone remain with you for at least four hours following the procedure.
- For 24 hours, no driving, operating machinery
