Dental sedation is the use of medicine to reduce physical pain associated with treatment or to reduce dental anxiety and help you feel more relaxed while dental work is being completed. This makes the experience more pleasant and ensures our staff can perform their duties more effectively. We offer IV dental sedation so that our patients can feel at ease while we transform their smiles.
IV Sedation Dentistry, also known as Conscious Sedation Dentistry, is a very safe and effective way to relieve anxiety associated with being at the dentist. Small incremental doses of relaxation medicine are given until you are completely relaxed and will have virtually no memory of the procedure.
We offer IV Sedation in all of our Ohio locations—Blue Ash, Batavia, and Lebanon. Call our dedicated IV Sedation Hotline to speak with a team member and schedule a consultation.

Our office is happy to provide out-of-pocket estimates for your treatment—during your visit or over the phone.
- IV Sedation: $199 / 15 minutes
Most procedures where IV Sedation is used can be completed within 1 hour. The total cost will depend on what procedure is being completed. We will provide you with an exact price after a consultation.
Certain PPO plans may cover up to 100%.
Is IV Sedation Safe?
IV sedation is the safest sedation option because medications can be tailored quickly to each patient’s needs. The patient will feel a small pinch in the arm and then the medications will create a carefree appointment with no memory of the procedure for the patient. This option is also only available for healthy individuals with no major health conditions who have a driver to and from the appointment.
IV Sedation Dentistry: What to Expect
IV sedation does a great job of managing both pain and anxiety, takes effect very quickly, and wears off in a timely manner. This is the sedation method used for most oral surgeries.
During this procedure, small amounts of medication are given through an IV line to produce a state of complete relaxation. You will have no memory of the procedure and will feel no pain. Throughout the procedure, you will be connected to a state-of-the-art monitor that will continuously assess your vital signs, such as breathing sounds (Bluetooth laryngeal stethoscope), oxygenation (pulse oximetry), heart rhythms (EKG or ECG), and blood pressure, all of which help ensure a completely safe procedure.
If you’re preparing for a procedure with IV sedation, please ensure you follow our instructions:
- 6-hour fast. Do not eat or drink anything 6 hours prior to the appointment. The only exception to this is if you are diabetic—your doctor will give you specific instructions on eating/drinking limitations.
- Dress comfortably. No tight clothes or long-sleeved tops, as access to the arm is needed for the blood pressure cuff.
- Must have a designated driver. Someone will need to drive you to your appointment and drive you home. This person MUST remain in the office or vehicle during the procedure, and we ask that they not run any errands during this time. This person is your responsible party.
- If you are under the age of 19, this must be your parent or guardian.
- Designate a caretaker. We ask that someone remain with you for at least 4 hours following the procedure.
- For 24 hours, no driving, operating machinery

See What Our Patients Are Saying
They got me in amazingly quickly when I had a cracked infected wisdom tooth. I have severe dental anxiety and they were super reassuring and calm and explained everything to me. This was the first time I used sedation to get a tooth removed and it was easy and quick and as painless as it can be. Diane at the front desk is great and makes sure you have everything you need to get through your appointment. The lobby is also really nice with kids' toys, tv, books, and refreshments. Definitely will be returning to them for my routine dental work and cleanings. Definitely recommend them to anyone!!
- Charlotte
Sedated extraction went amazingly well considering. Same with recovery. I've never had an extraction heal so well, I always get dry socket and infections, not this time. Extensive aftercare paperwork makes aftercare a breeze. I will never go anywhere else for dental surgery! The office is spotless, the staff are wonderful and nice and completely understanding with anxiety issues. I don't have a single bad thing to say about an experience that is never a fun thing to deal with. Highly recommended.
- Belle
Very friendly staff, great communication regarding my dental needs and health. I have high dental anxiety and they made me feel very comfortable.
- David
Excellent dentist office. Every time I've been there I've left impressed with how kind everyone is, how clean everything is kept, and how it's clear their priority is the patient and not profit. I couldn't think of a single negative thing to say if I tried. Going somewhere you know you will get the best care and be treated so well takes so much of the anxiety away from going to the dentist. I can't recommend them enough and all the other five-star reviews are spot on.
