Preventive Care

We believe that routine dental cleanings, flossing, sealants, and fluoride are all helpful in preventing dental disease. That’s why we focus on thorough exams – checking the overall health of your teeth and gums, performing oral cancer exams, and taking x-rays when necessary. Not only are we focused on the beauty of your smile, we’re also concerned about your health.

With a typical new patient hygiene/cleaning appointment, you can expect:

  • To be welcomed by our front office staff, gathering the needing information from you and answering any questions you may have
  • To meet your hygienist, who will come out to the waiting room to greet you.
  • Any necessary X-rays or photos taken so that we can fully understand the health of your mouth and diagnose any issues accurately
  • Get a cleaning, polish, and floss, and possible fluoride, expertly done by the hygienist
  • Have a periodontal chart taken, which show both you and us the overall health of your gums
  • Meet Dr. Moorehead for an exam and discuss any areas of concern you may have or we may want to address
  • If any areas of concern are found, we work with you insurance company to provide an estimate of costs before you leave or will offer your joining our In-Office Dental Benefit Plan to offer up savings if you do not have dental insurance.
  • During your appointment with the doctor, you can discuss any teeth whitening options, Invisalign orthodontic teeth straightening, as well as Dental Implants and IV Sedation if you have dental work needing completed.
  • Schedule any needed treatment or simply your next 6-month cleaning appointment

Expect this first appoint to take between 1 hour and 1.5 hours, so that we don't rush you through or provide too much information to quickly for you.

If you have already scheduled your first appointment, be sure to fill out our New Patient Information Packet and send it to us prior to your appointment, so that we can gather your insurance information and be able to provide our best cost estimates for any future treatment at your appointment.
