Implant Dentistry

In both our Blue Ash Dental office and Batavia Dental office, Moorehead Family Dentistry offers the entire Implant Dentistry process from consultation through restoration. This is unique as many dentists only handle one or two of the steps, leaving the patient to be sent to a specialist elsewhere in the city. We value both convenience and affordability for our patients, which makes our entirely in-office process most ideal for the patient.

Implants

What is an Implant?

Dental implants are a great way to replace missing teeth and also provide a fixed solution to having removable partial or complete dentures.  Implants provide excellent support and stability for these dental appliances (including dentures). Dental implants are artificial roots and teeth (usually titanium) that are surgically placed into the upper or lower jaw bone. The teeth attached to implants are very natural looking and often enhance or restore a patient’s smile. Dental implants are very strong, stable, and durable and will last many years, but on occasion, they will have to be re-tightened or replaced due to normal wear.

Benefits of an implant

  • Restores your smile, appearing, feeling, and functioning like a natural tooth
  • You can eat your favorite foods without concern of a restoration falling out or appliance (like a denture) coming loose
  • They keep your bone healthy -- bone will begin to deteriorate over time without a natural tooth or implant
  • No maintenance: nothing to remove, clean, or even worry about decay over time
  • Built to last! One of the best long term investments - typically well outlasting the 7-10 life expectancy of most other restoration types
  • Protect your existing healthy teeth -- prevent existing teeth movement if there were a gap and bone loss
  • Implants are regarded as the next best option to natural teeth

What does the process look like?

Depending on whether the bone needs built up and/or an existing tooth needing extracted and site healing, the process can take from 6 months - one year to be completed. We also offer IV Sedation with the implant process.

  • The process begins with your consultation, when the implant is proposed and chosen both by the patient and doctor as the ideal method in restoring that area of the mouth.
  • As needed, the existing tooth will be extracted and/or the bone built up to best support the implant.
  • After a healing time, the implant will be surgically placed.
  • Giving time for the implant to solidify in the bone, the implant is uncovered and a healing abutment (post) is placed
  • The long term abutment (post) is placed and temporary crown is placed
  • Long term crown is placed and the implant is complete

Cost of an Implant

While out of pocket costs for patients with dental insurance vary on the particular plan, coverage, and limitations, we're always happy to provide an estimate of cost based on those factors just after your consultation appointment. For those without dental insurance, we work to keep implants affordable by fixing the implant cost, providing flexible payment plans, and offering our In-Office Dental Benefit Plan, which all help to bring down the overall cost of the implant.
